Second time going to the Deer Centre and had another fantastic day there. There is so much more than just deer and all the staff are so friendly and informative. The bird of prey show was excellent, despite a falcon flying into the falconer! And Bruno who gave the carnivore talk was very informative and engaging.
Easy access via car or various Stagecoach buses (x54 is best from Edinburgh orbl Dundee). Has a good amount of parking, a nice friendly cafe, a woolen mill shop, a gift shop and a small shop selling meat and craft booze.The center itself is like a nice country walk with various paddocks displaying deer and elk. There's also wolves, cats and bears but the bears hibernate and the cats are super shy. The enclosures don't have viewing areas which would have been nice. There's also otters and a selection of birds of prey. It'll kill about an hour and a half and if you're in for about 11 you can have a snack then go around again for talks, feedings and falconry displays. On top of all of that there's a little pedal powered unsupervised go kart track and a play area with slides, swings and a cool little fort.It's mostly flat, so wheelchairs can get around better than somewhere like Edinburgh Zoo. Not sure about special toilet facilities. The general loos were a bit run down and had some pretty creepy artwork.
Fantastic. Many animals were there as well as deer; bears, foxes, wildcat, lynx, wolves, otters and more. The bird of prey shows were thrilling, I went to see the birds perform multiple times. Staff were very informative especially Victoria the bird handler. You could feed and stroke most of the deer, and on some occasions get in the enclosure with them. Great experience.
Most brilliant place for all ages. Pouring in rain, but whole family from grandson mum and gran, all had great day. Finished of with great afternoon tea in cafe, and browse round their shops. Staff very helpful and very knowledgeable. Cannot fault highly recommend.
Up close deer and animals. Shop with clothing range and a restaurant. We enjoyed feeding the deer and you can buy seed for 1.50. See the pictures and videos on Google. There is a large outdoor play area and high walkway that overlooks the fields. The wolves are also good to see and you can get quite close.
